George Washington University
George Washington University is a major private institution located in the Foggy Bottom area of Washington D.C. Founded in 1821, it has an undergraduate enrollment of just over 11,000 students. GW is known for its colleges in Social Sciences, Business, Management and Marketing, as well as different Health professions.
The University's Arabic Language major is housed in the Department of Classical and Near Eastern Languages. The program also offers a minor in Semetic Languages and Cultures, offering courses in Hebrew and Arabic. The Arabic program requires 26 credits in Arabic language, including literature, translation, linguistics and culture, and the option for overseas study. Each student is required to complete a proficiency examination for graduation.
